Chemical Element considers the possibility of choosing transformation over circumstance. The open frame represents permeability—an intentional refusal to remain confined by environment, mental patterns, or chemical imbalance. By exposing the work beyond its borders, the piece challenges the idea of being a fixed product of one’s surroundings. Organic materials introduce a living counterpoint to internal instability, suggesting that change is not only possible, but ongoing. The work ultimately proposes a shift in chemistry—internal and external—as an act of agency, growth, and redefinition.
